Lovable review: build a real web app by chatting

7.2/10Provisional: not yet tested hands-on

Lovable is one of the easiest ways for a non-coder to turn a business idea into a working web app, but you'll need the paid plan to publish it publicly, and you should switch off AI training in your settings on day one.

What it does, in plain English

Lovable describes itself as "an AI software engineer". You type what you want ("a booking page for my dog-walking business with a sign-up form") and it writes the code, builds the pages and hosts the result. You keep chatting to change it. Lovable says you own the code and anything you build.

It became a unicorn in July 2025, eight months after launch.

Pricing

Converted at £0.7492 per US$1 (European Central Bank reference rates, 26 Oct 2026). Lovable charges in USD, so your bank may add conversion fees, and VAT may be added. Checked 26 Oct 2026.

Plan Price What you get
Free £0 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month). Publishing is invite-only: only people you invite can open your site.
Pro ~£18.73/month ($25) 100 monthly credits plus daily grants, custom domains, the option to remove the Lovable badge, and email support
Business ~£37.46/month ($50) 100 credits, SSO, team workspace, and data excluded from training by default
Enterprise Custom For large organisations

Yearly billing gives "2 months free". Students can get up to 50% off Pro. Lovable's own examples show a small change costs about 0.5 credits and a full landing page about 1.7. What it really costs a beginner: about £18.73 a month for Pro, plus top-ups if you build a lot.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Ease for beginners

This is where Lovable shines. You don't need to know what a database or a server is. A "Plan mode" (1 credit per message) lets you talk through your idea before Lovable builds anything, which helps beginners avoid wasting credits. There's a Discord community and documentation for when you get stuck.
